Telemedicine Sensor Interface for SayPhone 21 & Advent xt

The latest version of Tynetec’s SayPhone 21 features a fully integrated Telemedicine interface. A radio interface will allow data from a range of Telemedicine sensors to be signalled to and stored in the SayPhone 21 memory. If the Telemedicine data is outside the safe range an alarm can be signalled.

The first product to be made available is a Pulse Oximeter. A standard finger clip sensor plugs into the radio interface unit which features a digital display. The Pulse and Oximeter readings are analysed and signalled to the SayPhone 21. The periodic readings can be remotely accessed and analysed using the ALTera Care software. Remote data downloading is enabled using the integral high speed modem in the SayPhone 21.

The radio interface can also be used with the Advent xt grouped alarm system. Data downloading from the Advent xt system is via the integrated Ethernet port which allows direct Broadband connection.

The new features allow a more comprehensive and cost effective monitoring package to be provided. The combination of traditional environmental and Telemedicine data provides Carers with a clearer picture of the user’s overall condition and hence the degree of care needed. SayPhone 21 provides instant Activity Checking

Tynetec’s latest dispersed alarm unit the SayPhone 21 provides as standard a range of data analysis features including the ability to produce and compare user movement/activity patterns over extended time periods. The reports can give an instant insight into the changing life style of users suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

No ongoing monitoring or analysis costs are involved because all activity data is stored in the SayPhone 21 and can be downloaded at will to any PC or laptop using the low cost Altera Care software package. The SayPhone 21 transmits the activity data over the same standard telephone line used for alarm reporting so no additional communication costs are incurred.

Standard ALTec battery powered PIR movement detectors and door contacts are used to detect activity within the monitored property and the same detectors can be used as burglar alarm sensors when the SayPhone 21 is set to Intruder Mode.

Tynetec’s low cost Altera Care software package is the industry’s first flexible communication tool to allow personnel from any care agency to directly access Telecare data from a Social Alarm system. The flexibility offered by the new communication system will allow a more flexible approach to the uptake of Telecare provision.

Tynetec’s National Sales Manager Wendy Kendall stated that “Other more expensive checking systems are available but, as well as the additional capital cost, they also incur ongoing communication and monitoring costs”.

The activity graphs produced by the Altera Care software are simple to generate and can be directly imported into standard reports. The Altera Care software costs £95 + VAT and free demonstration discs are available.

Tynetec reorganize Sales Force for major expansion

As part of it’s continuing expansion program Tynetec has appointed a dedicated National Sales Manager to lead it’s sales activities. Wendy Kendall, who has more than twenty years experience in the Social Alarm industry, and who was formerly the Regional Sales Manager for the Midlands Region has already assumed the roll. Wendy is well know to most people in the industry and will initially be supported by three Regional Sales Managers; Tim Ritson, retains his roll in the Southern Region, Lisa Daughtrey will be taking over the Midlands Region and Aaron Longstaff will be assuming responsibility for the North East and Scotland.

Tynetec’s expansion plans are based on the success of the advanced and flexible Telecare facilities offered by the Advent xt system for grouped schemes and the SayPhone 21 dispersed alarm unit. Both products feature enhanced communication options that allow greater flexibility in the storage, delivery and analysis of advanced Telecare data.

Tynetec’s chairman and managing director Tony Platten stated that “The success of the Advent xt and SayPhone 21 products is testimony to the benefits of the long term research and development program carried out by the company”. “With the expansion in sales activity is was inevitable that a dedicated National Sales Manager was required and there is no one with more experience and market knowledge than Wendy to manage the expansion program”.

The Manufacturer Awards 2006

Tynetec were finalists in the Design & Innovation category of the Manufacturer Awards 2006 held at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

The Advent xt and SayPhone 21 will help address the demographic challenges presented by an ageing population through delivering the means by which stored Telecare data can be provided to caring agencies to implement preventative rather than responsive care.

Press Release: 2 May 2006

Tynetec secures multi million partnership deal to deliver new care technology to Anchor Trust.

In the face of competition from across Europe, Tynetec has been successful in securing its biggest ever contract which will secure the upgrade of alarm systems in Anchor Retirement Housing’s sheltered accommodation.

Anchor Retirement Housing is part of Anchor Trust, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing, support and care for older people.

The £5.5m contract will see alarm and communication systems upgraded with the latest technology over a five-year program. The improvements will be carried out across England using the installation services of four of Tynetec’s longest serving Regional Approved Installers. Tynetec’s advanced Advent xt system, the first alarm call system to feature ADSL broadband connectivity, will form an integral part of Anchor’s long-term IT strategy for the efficient management of its schemes.

The Advent xt system features an integrated Telecare monitoring function to allow advanced Telecare data to be viewed over the internet using a standard computer. The use of Telecare technology is an integral part of the Government’s strategy to help growing numbers of older and disabled people to remain in their own homes for longer. The advanced software in the Advent xt system allows users to view historical lifestyle trends such as entry and exit times of residents so that any potentially harmful change in these trends can be quickly detected.

Tynetec’s chairman and managing director Tony Platten said: “The securing of the contract is a testimony to the benefits of the long term research and development program carried out by the company and will secure the future of Tynetec’s loyal work force in Blyth.

The long-term partnerships Tynetec has with its network of independent Approved Installation Contractors has long been recognised as delivering the most cost effective long-term ownership of Social Alarm systems and Anchor’s decision to purchase after detailed analysis is further proof of this.

Anchor Trust Chief Executive John Belcher said: “The new system will give staff more detailed and up-to-date information to help them give the right support to tenants as and when they need it.”

SayPhone 21

The recent Telecare Service Association (formerly ASAP) annual conference, held in Blackpool, saw Tynetec introduce its latest range of Telecare products.

The SayPhone 21 is the UK’s first dispersed alarm unit to incorporate a high-speed modem to allow the remote down-loading of historical Telecare data direct from source. Down-loading Telecare data direct from source is a continuation of the principle first introduced in Tynetec’s Advent xt system for grouped schemes which was launched in January 2005.

The increased use of intelligent Telecare sensors in the social alarm industry results in an increasing volume of environmental data. Telecare sensor signals no longer result in a simple alarm dial-out to a central control. The increased volume of Telecare data has to be made available to an even wider network of caring agencies and this is achieved using either internet connection or high-speed data links.

The launch also saw the introduction of a new range of Telecare sensors operating on the new 169 MHz radio frequency. The new frequency offers improved transmission characteristics when compared to the existing 869 MHz frequency.

Tynetec are on top again....

KILIMANJARO

In September 2005 Terry Osborne embarked on an exhausting expedition to raise money for a fair trade co-operative in Kenya called "Ohala Ltd". His aim, to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro. Tynetec was contacted with regard to assisting his sponsorship and were very happy to do so, especially as Terry is the son of one our employees. I am pleased to report that he achieved this remarkable feat as can be seen in the photo above.

Here is some of what Terry had to say, "The sights at Uhuru Peak were beyond belief, mauve clouds, air so thin you could see forever, a sky bluer than any I have ever seen and a glacier on a volcano, in the desert, in Africa! I have never seen a glacier first hand before, and the sight took away what little breath I had left".

No doubt Terry felt on top of the world. Well done Terry from everyone at Tynetec and especially your very proud Mum and Dad.

Advent xt

Easington Councils housing management organization, East Durham Homes, has become the first authority to benefit from the advanced features of Tynetec’s Advent xt system. The advanced Digital Speech Processing (DSP) has produced dramatic improvements over traditional analogue technology in Onsite, Local Offsite (to mobile telephones) and Control Centre speech links.

Tynetec’s Advent xt system is the first Social Alarm system to incorporate an Ethernet Port. The availability of this Port will allow advanced Telecare service delivery. Telecare data will be available locally to visiting service providers using standard wired or wireless technology, and remotely using a standard Internet connection.

The Advent xt incorporates an advanced data checking feature that has saved money for East Durham Homes by allowing the existing cable network to be reused with confidence.
